| Fire Safety The Marion Fire Department gives classes, talks and demonstrations to educate the public about fire safety. Below are some examples of their efforts. The Marion Fire Department also participates in Fire Prevention Week which brings many daycare children to visit the department. With assistance from the Fire Safety Council, the Fire Department distributes Fire Safety Coloring books to K-6 grades, as well as pre-school centers, during Fire Prevention Week. Throughout the year the department also demonstrates different Fire Safety programs for the elementary children of Marion. As seen in the picture below, "Fire Pup" also assists the firefighters in teaching children the danger of fire. In 2005, The Marion Fire Department applied for a Federal Grant that allowed them to purchase 500 smoke detectors. These detectors were distributed free to any applicant who lives in the City of Marion or within the Grant, Wilson, Center or Gale Townships. They also provided assistance installing them, if it was needed. If you would like the Marion Fire Department to come to your school, organization or business to talk about fire safety, please contact the Fire Chief, Mike Regnier Marion Elementary School
